A podiatrist can treat any foot problems you have whether that is routine care because you find it difficult to reach your feet yourself or more complicated problems such as foot pain. Podiatrists are fully qualified to provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of foot, ankle and lower limb conditions. It is always better to seek help sooner rather than later. A Podiatrist can offer you advice and treatment to improve your feet and thereby improving your quality of life. Podiatry treatment is particularly important for those with conditions such as Diabetes, Arthritis and circulatory problems.

No. Most of our treatments are pain free. We use sharp instruments such as nail clippers and scalpels, with single use sterile blades. Most people find the treatment very relaxing and patients constantly comment on how gentle Judy is.

This will depend on the condition of your feet and the type of foot conditions you have. If it’s a condition we can cure it may only take 1-3 sessions. If it is for routine care such as nail cutting or callus or corn removal the return time will generally be between 6-12 weeks depending on speed of nail and skin growth. The speed of nail and skin growth varies from individual to individual. At your initial new patient assessment appointment a proposed treatment plan will be discussed with you.
-
Yes. We hold the foot gently but firmly when treating and most people, even the most ticklish of patients find they have no problems with the treatment.

No we do not offer home visits. We are happy to recommend other Podiatrists that do offer a home visiting service. The only exception to this are home visits to existing patients who find themselves in the short term unable to come to the clinic due to recovering from illness or operations. If home visits are required for the long term a home visiting Podiatrist will be recommended. Feet Freedom home visits will be charged at £65 due to petrol costs and extra time away from the clinic. Extra costs will be incurred for petrol if the home visit is more than 10 miles from either clinic.

Judy has the highest standards of cleanliness and prides herself on this high level of infection control. The clinic is cleaned between each patient, this includes cleaning the floor and all surfaces that the patient comes into contact with. The clinic is ventilated and the use of face masks and hand gel or hand washing is recommended to patients. Judy will wash her hands between each patient and wear clean gloves and apron. Judy will wear a mask, if you are hard of hearing please ask Judy if you would prefer her to wear a clear visor to enable lip reading. The instruments are cleaned using an ultrasonic cleaner and cleaning agent followed by steam sterilisation and stored in sterile sealed bags. This is in accordance with the highest standards of practice.

Chiropody is an outdated term that used to be used for the footcare profession. Chiropodists are now called Podiatrists as this is the internationally recognised term.
Podiatrists undertake 3 years of rigorous study and training leading to a Bachelor of science honours degree in Podiatry. (Podiatrists qualifying before 1992 will have a diploma qualification).
Podiatrists will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) which ensures high standards of care for patients.
Podiatrists will be members of a prestigious body such as The Royal College of Podiatry.
Foot health practitioners undertake a short training and should not be confused with Podiatrists.
